Is there such thing as a gas / wood burning fireplace?

I would like to have a wood burning fireplace but running out of fire wood would be a pain. It would be nice to have one that was capable of both.

  1. I assume you mean wood burning stove, and the answer is yes. We're thinking of hooking up a gas line to ours because we're tired of the soot that wood produces.
  2. have one in my home.best of both worlds.you have to install a gas log and burner set to utilize the gas convenience.to burn wood,you have to remove it.the gas set-up puts out a surprising amount of heat and is nice to watch.
