Product to create wood burning smell from a gas log fireplace?

We love a wood burning smell, but have only a gas fired log fireplace. Is there any product/drops/sticks that would duplicate the smell of a real wood burning fireplace??

  1. Good question!!! I would do the same as for a gas grill in the summer. When you open your next tuna-fish can allow the "lid" to stay on. Then take one of those can openers that makes triangles and poke triangles all around the bottom of the sides just far enough apart not to touch and to hold wood chips. Then take wood chips of your choice and soak them in water for at least 30 minutes so they won't BURN but will only smolder. Drain them, put them in the can, close the lid and place the can very near where the flames come out of your gas logs. The smoke will give you the smell you want and then go up the chimney of the gas fireplace.
  2. The gas fireplace is a sealed unit. anything you put inside you will only smell outside.
  3. It is true that whatever you put inside the fireplace is going to go outside with very little of the odor coming inside. I burn little incense sticks or cones that are hickory or or pinon scented and it smells like a fire inside the house. Hope this helps you.
