"Are gas converted fireplaces better than wood burning fireplaces?"?

Public Comments

  1. Gas burns clean without cleanup (still maintenance same as furnace). Don't have the soot. Gas doesn't leave particulants in air to hinder breathing (pollution). Many people still want the wood burning for wood burning smell and asthetic affect. Go to websites and look up 'pollution'; wood burners will be in the top 10.
  2. wood burners produce more heat
  3. Ten reasons why, I wouldn't give up my wood burning fire place, for all the money people spend on gas ones! No matter how much they try to convince you,you can tell the real fires (wood) and the gas ones. #1 ) The smell. #2) The way the flames dance amongst the logs. #3) The way it changes forms as the wood burns down. # 4 ) The heat it puts out. #5 ) The crackling sound it makes as the wood burns. # 6 )The coziness it creates,as the family gathers together. #7 ) The feeling of being safe. #8 ) The Glow from the embers, that lasts all night. #9 ) The memories it creates. #10) The just because that's the way I like it ! And one more, # 11) Having a fireplace picnic on a rainy ,stormy night while it is lighting and thundering! Want to hear my opinion on gas logs? Didn't think so. Byee
  4. Well, I've had both in life. I lived in England for almost 2 years and I can tell you, gas ALWAYS gives me a headache! Always. I prefer a wood fire anyday..... And keep in mind, your insurance will go up with gas, plus the fact that most cities have mega bylaws for gas, where you can place your outdoor tank, etc. Good luck... and don't forget to keep the home fire burning :)
  5. Gas is cleaner, but wood is warmer and cheaper.
