SharkBite fittings on gray polybutylene pipe?
I recently used a SharkBite fitting on 3/4" gray polybutylene per the recommendation of my plumbing supply store. The store is new to the SharkBite line and I just recieved a spec sheet from the store but it does not mention that you can use the fittings on polybutylene. Does anyone know it it is OK or do I need to redue this repair?

- I would not redo the repair. Just watch it and only redo the repair if there is a problem. It is not listed because they stop making it. I looked at the online brochure and it should work just fine. Your O.D. on your pipes are the same. I used the plastic coupling to do my repair on that stuff. I work maintenance and sharkbite is a quick coupling system. I never had a problem using a quick coupling in water lines before. Happy New Years
- Sharkbite fittings are sized for copper pipe size and pex tubing. Polybute is a slightly different size. You may experience a leak down the road, as polybute expands and contracts. If the repair is in a accessible area, keep an eye on it. If the repair is behind a wall or otherwise not visible, I would change it to a poly barb and crimp ring repair fitting. Good luck! Happy New Year!
- the shark bites are great i don't think you will have a problem but if it is for a customer and not yourself than i would have them watch it
