Do shower arms unscrew or are they permanent plumbing fixtures?

  1. Yes, they unsrew.
  2. they unscrew
  3. They can be unscrewed and replace easily. You may need a pipe wrench to do it easily, but it's no big job. You can buy replacements at any hardware store, from your local ones, to Home Depot etc. They are usually I/2 inch pipe thread, and you will need some Teflon tape. or pipe grease to seal the threads. Also available at the store. Ask them how to apply the tape, it's easy too.
  4. The shower arm and the shower head consist of two different pieces. If you are removing the shower head be careful not to scratch the shower arm.I usually wrap a old rag around the arm before i use a wrench on it.It will take two wrenches one to hold the arm still and one to remove the head.If you are removing the whole arm only one wrench is needed.when replacing make sure the pipe is not leaking in the wall when you reinstall the arm if you remove the pipe you must be sure it does not leak in the wall when you replace the arm causing the drywall to get wetbehind the wall .A little Teflon tape or some Teflon paste on the treads should do the job well and good luck
  5. Umm.. can we not say that it is easy? I just had two of them at a remodel that were rusted on! I had to use a 16" plumbers wrench (Monkey wrench) to get them disconnected!
  6. yes they unscrew off, just remember righty tighty lefty loosey use a pair of vice grips and turn the shower arm to the left. It should come off real easy. Remember to put teflon tape on the new one before putting it on.
