leaking outdoor faucet - attached copper pipe through brick face connects to pb flexible half in. water line?

I want to cut plastic pb tubing and connect a compression or some type of temporary fitting to cut off water for a period of time to allow me get faucet and attached 12 in copper pipe that extends through a 5 inch wood joist (3 joist together) and out of the brick face. I do not believe that this 12 year old faucet can be diassembled for repair. I already tried that. It just would not come apart. When I went to look for connectors I did see some cpvc and brass fittings are they compatible. Any way after I remove the faucet and seal the water line I will need help on how to proceed. I have did some plumbing work in the past. I added a sink with hot and cold water and drain line to my garage. Any advise and assistance will be greatly appreciated.

  1. copper to plastic plumbing, especially pressured sucks.try to run all plastic.if not all copper.compression fittings suck.i know they sell them so you may think that they are ok,but not the right thing to do.if you have done plumbing then thats all you need to know.
  2. the faucet you have is probably a/an anti freeze type they can be repaired, the stem is anywhere from six to ten inches in lenght and has a rubber washer just like any other faucet
  3. Use a 1/2" sharkbite coupling. It will fit the copper and pb with no compression or soldering. It simply slides onto the pipe and that is it, just make sure you have it all the way on the pipe. You will likely have to ream the inside of the copper to remove that ridge.burr inside so it will slide over the inside stiffener in the sharkbite fitting. I am not sure if some of the hardware stores will have them but a plumbing supply should. You can also buy a small orange plastic release fitting to remove the coupling or remove one piece of pipe from the coupling for future work. It will cost around $5.00 but it is well worth it, way simple and easy. Best of luck.
  4. just cut the pipe and put a valve there and leave it why take it out it opens and closes just leave it open if someone does a repair yrs from now they may use it. at any rate you would have to solder a male fitting to go to plastic.
