plumbing tool advise please?

i purchased a used ridgid portable chain vise, can anybody tell me what the receding ceiling brace part does? thank you

1. On a chain vise made by Rigid, you have a place on top of the vise for installing a ridig pipe to the ceiling to hold the whole thing down during a hand or power threader operation.

3. I have never heard of any part of that vise with that name of recedign celing brace?. I have done plumbing for years. I am senidng along a URL with a picture of a chain vise in use can you elaborate?
