I am interested in doing basic plumbing repairs around my house, need a list of must have tools and materials.

I want to purchase a complete set of universal tools and materials to do basic plumbing repair work around the house. Repairs such as fixing a leaky faucet, replacing toilet components, replacing plumbing fixtures etc.

  1. Adjustable wrench, pump or slip joint pliers, utility knife, hack saw, teflon tape, joint compound, basin wrench, 18" pipe wrench, propane torch, solder, flux, etc. This is a minimum. Nice to have would be a set of wrenches, an additional pipe wrench, bench vice, socket set, electric drill, flaring tool, etc.
  2. there are a lot a of ? for you like is the house cast iron? copper. or PVC? and what do you want it to be. first pipe wrench's all sizes. propane torch, pipe cutter. can give more info when you tell what you have.
  3. Go to the library and check out The Black and Decker Illustrated Guide to Home Improvement. Everything is there. It's a wonderful book.
