My plumbing pipes "moan" - how do I stop them and is it dangerous?

The pipes seem to moan all on their own, not just when the (hot & cold) water is used in varying parts of the house. House was built and remodeled entirely in 1976 and 2002, respectively.

1. Your pipes must be in distress. I know I moan when i'm uncomfortable. :-) I know thats lame ;-) But seriously they are probably bracketed to tightly againt the floor joists and as they expand and contract, they tend to make that type of noise. It's not dangerous, just a nussiance.
