Where can I look for Plumbing Courses?
Anyone got any ideas where i can look for a Plumbing Course near the Chesterfield or Sheffield area (UK). I do have some plumbing experience from small jobs at home, but id need to start at the bottom and work my way up the ladder Ideally id like to do it in the evenings part time as I work full time during the week. Suggestions much appreciated. Thanks

- How about a night class at your local Technical college?
- I'm sure Plumbers need to be licensed in the UK to do work for other people. Look for an apprenticeship program. Doing "side jobs" without insurance can be expensive in the end. If something happens, you are liable for repairs. Your "friends" that you help out will be the first to sue you.
- I'm half way through a course at the moment I'm doing city and guilds level 2/3 as well as the nvq 2/3, this covers the gas side as well so I can be corgi registered and the part p electrical, the course I'm on is expensive but they do aim to place you in a job placement at the end so you can do your nvq, there are a lot of courses about some better than others, at the end of my course I will have done over 30 exams, if you want to be fully qualified in every aspect you need to find a course like this as alot just cover the basics such as bathroom installations and not the gas side, so know what you want out of it and do some research before splashing out your cash, when I was looking for a course there wasn't alot offering everything I wanted, I do mine in modular form a week at a time then 2/3 exams at the end per mod, so it works out that I'm at college 1 week out of 4 which means you better have a understanding employer (im self employed so it doesn't effect me), however there are other ways to do it. I found this course on the net which I think is your best bet for finding the right course for you, just make sure the course offers everything you want and the place your doing your training at is fully recognised training centre by the city and guilds and corgi no point otherwise as your certificate wont be worth the paper its printed on as alot of colleges offering these courses just give you there own certificate at the end of the course Good luck
- Try checking with home-depot for classes. Some of them are free.
- plumbers dont need to be licenced in the uk however you make a good point about working on others property and needing insurance unless you are happy paying for damage of course best route is a local college, they may offer night classes but make sure it gives you C&G qualification at the end, they will be experienced, know the ropes and not in the business of ripping people off, we hope, as some of these do-it-quick merchants are if its days only then you will have to take the pain, if you really want to do it.
- I've had a look on this site http://www.plumbing-courses.info and the nearest plumbing course I could find to you is in Leeds. But I think they're full time courses only.
