Adjusting Gas Fireplace Flames?

How do I adjust the height of the flame on our gas fireplace. All we see is a tiny blue flame barely peaking out from behind the logs.

  1. Generally you cant. If you did adjust them up and saw yellow flame, then it would choke you out with carbon monoxide fumes. Not good.
  2. turn up the gas.or back up the logs some.
  3. Depends on what kind of fireplace you have if it's a direct vent you will have two pipes one for outside air to be drawn in and one for exhaust gases to go out usually there is a high or low setting on or near the gas valve that can adjust the flame . the other type is conventional or insert type most commonly used to replace older solid fuel(wood) fireplaces which only has an exhaust vent and uses indoor air for combustion It best to consult the manufacture for proper operation so as you achieve the proper flame . Most fireplaces with have a natural looking flame designed Into the system but also be aware that a more yellow (carbonizing flame ) will also require more frequent cleaning of your glass and heat chamber . You try and achieve just a small amount of yellow on the flame tip . Another tip is make sure you do not use any Windex or household cleaners on the glass . You must use a special fireplace glass cleaner made for gas fireplaces otherwise your ceramic glass will start turning cloudy and impossible to remove later . Good luck .
