Gas fireplace shutsoff?
My gas fireplace blows outs after maybe 15 minutes. Everything including the pilot light. After starting the pilot light again the pilot light stays on. But when I try to light the gas fireplace it will light but go out including the pilot light after approx. 15 minutes. I'm lost it used to work fine last year. ??????? Thanks for any help

- There are too many reasons to even guess without being there.Some are simple,others not. Call your local fireplace co. and ask for a cert.tech to check it out for you. they can identify and repair the problem with the proper parts and ensure the safe operation of your unit.
- It sound like you have a bad thermocouple. The thermocouple is the sensor device that tells the gas control valve if the pilot light is lit, When the thermocouple goes bad it tells the control valve to close. You might be able to replace the thermocouple your self. When the pilot light is lit you will see a small piece of mettle that comes into contact with the pilot light, that is the sensor end of the thermocouple, Follow the mettle tube to the point where it connects to the gas control valve. If you can disconnect the thermocouple at the sensor end, and at the control valve connection. you should be able to take the thermocouple to Lowes or Home Depo for a replacement. Make sure you note the placement of the sensor end and the pilot light, the sensor end should be in contact with the pilot light
