Can you mount a flat screen lcd tv above a gas fireplace (new constructions)? What are the pros and cons?

- NO its will mess with your screen i have one i know
- If it is an LCD maybe if it is plasma no problem just make sure that the mount is at 90 degrees to the flames, Plasma's are tested to ferocious heat and can take it but because of the pixel arrangement in LCD it is more delicate
- I'm a professional installer so I answer this question all the time. The short answer is yes you can. Pro, looks great, con's if you don't know what you're doing don't do it. Here's the long answer: http://hdinstallers.com/fireplacetvinstallation.html
- I have just mounted a Plasma on top of my fireplace. The retailer was not happy about it when they came to put it up but manufacture states that depending on the thickness of the wall behind the TV is what counts. Plus mounted TVs don't actually sit against the wall they are out on brackets so it should be fine.
