can you mount a flat screen tv above a fireplace?

  1. yes as long as there is adicate protection e.g. ledge
  2. I wouldn't suggest it unless you can shield it from direct heat
  3. Dah, if your Homer Simpson
  4. Yes, but I wouldn't prefer that, myself. I actually like the bulkier TV's that sit solidly on the floor. I don't think plasmas are practical in that regard, although I'm sure they have a great picture.
  5. No, not if you use the fireplace. If it is an enclosed electric one, it would likely be OK though.
  6. Depends on what type of fireplace, but I wouldn't recommend it. I'm sure somebody with more knowledge about electronics than I have would tell you that the heat is not good for it!
  7. I wouldn't do it, heat rises.
  8. u can but a bit more higher than usual else ur tv will burn also shield it carefully
  9. Yes. I figure if people put candles on the mantle without them melting, a TV should be safe. Be careful how you mount it though. Use masonary drill to make holes in brick so you dont knock a big hole in the chimney!
  10. If you can isolate the screen(kind of shelve or something) TV from the fireplace heat it'll be OK.
  11. you could possibly, but not a good choice. the room needs to have more than one focal area and the fireplace is its own. bet the warranty won't like the location either.
  12. i mean why not. unless your a dumass and put it in the fire.
  13. sure, that would be really cool. call 770-932-8064
  14. Yes you can....but before you do that...I SUGGEST sticking a thermometer above the fireplace and run your fireplace.... What is the temperature? I don't care for 120 degrees....I'd prefer 100 degrees or less. If you have a skinny mantle....rebuild it so it blocks the heat rising. I suggest a good 6 or 8 inch buildout....but you may also want to contact a fireplace company that may sell pre-fab mantles specifically engineered for plasma mounting. I'd trust that more.....
