What do you think about putting a plasma screen tv above a fireplace on the wall?

I was thinking about putting my plasma screen tv above my fireplace. It is a wood burning fireplace and it is a drywall that separates it from the chimney. Will there be a problem with heat ruining the tv?

  1. NAY. Look at the manual for the plasma, it willtell you no way.
  2. Yes, most likely there will be a problem. Plasma TV generates a lot of heat and needs a cool place to operate. If you make such an installation refer to a professional TV installer and someone who can tell you how much heat is in the wall around the chimney. It would most likely void your TV's warranty to make such an installation.
  3. It depends on the tempature around the place you want hang it on. Refer to manual on operating tempature. Find a qualified contractor or store that does installs like Bay Bloor Radio and ask them. Most 9th & 10th gen. plasmas have a wide range of opereting temps i'e' Panasonic, Pioneer.
  4. Noooooooooooooooooo
  5. Not if you have a nice BIG mantle separating the TV from the fireplace.....
