Can you put a LCD flat screen television over a fireplace without damaging the unit?

I have a corner fireplace (that is both gas and burns wood) and I'd like to mount a LCD flat screen television over it. Does anyone know if this can be done without causing damage to the set. Also, does anyone know if these types of sets have termal limitations and if they do, where do you fine these limitations?

  3. My friend has his there with no problems for over a year, He still burns fires in it.
  4. You must check your user's guide for thermal limitations but of course that whith the passing of the years it will be damaging for the set to be that near to a fire and heat source. No domestic appliances should be set near shuch heat source, cause it can cause malfunction of the set because of the heat or worst a fire. You should place it in a fresh area away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
