Where can I find a simple fireplace insert that will radiate some of the heat back into the room?

I have a standard wood-burning fireplace and would like to increase the heat output somehow, without installing any complex devices that require wiring, etc.

  1. They make simple electric fireplaces. All you would need to do is plug them in. If your looking for something a little more complicated you can install a vent less gas fireplace.
  2. What you are looking for is called a "heat reflector" They are in expensive and slip in behind the logs reflecting more heat into the room. There is a link below that has them for sale and provides more information. I am sure they are available at any home improvement or fireplace store. Good Luck!
  3. Go to a store that deals in fireplaces. they have all types of accessories for firer places
  4. Northline Express carries a wide range of heat exchangers for open fireplaces. I have one. But you really are better off installing an EPA certified insert. Some of heat exchangers are over $400.00. At that price get an insert that is 60-70% efficient. Most open fireplaces are 10% at best.
