Purchased a fireplace insert, fake log, w/real heat. Glass on front panel turns white and chalky. Clean it??

Beautiful fireplace with surround glass and gold on edges. The fire produces a hard, dry, white substance that I can't get off the glass on the inside. Went to the store where I bought it and they gave me some chemical to get it off, but it doesn't work. Any ideas? Looks great when you can actually see the fire burning.

  1. I have no idea but try this link looks like it may help
  2. so is there actual fire or is it electic heat? in the log burners i've had, the best way to clean the inside of the glass is by using newspaper to rub ash from the fire against the glass. when my mum taught me this as a little kid i thought it was the dumbest thing ever, but it totally works. cigarette ash will work too, even though it's gross. hehehe
  3. Vacuum???
