Have you ever removed a fireplace insert stove, but kept the fireplace?
We have what I consider to be a very ugly fireplace insert that is black, with a solid door, no window to actually enjoy the fire.It extends out from the fireplace 11 inches on an raised hearth that extends out 22 inches from the wall. I have been wanting to remove it since we bought the house 7 years ago. We have never used it. The fireplace surround and hearth are brick.

- It can be removed. Have a chimney sweep check the flue to make sure it's OK. And also check that the original fireplace damper is there and working
- they are very easy to remove, they just slide out. But, be aware, they are very heavy. make sure you have help. I removed mine sevearal years ago, ( insurance company said i had to) and just replaced it with a nice fireplace door.
