Converting a gas fireplace insert to propane.?

Can you convert a gas fireplace insert with fixed glass doors to propane, to be used outdoors without the glass doors?

  1. Propane IS gas,so what are you trying to convert from?Do you want to convert from mains gas to bottled gas(propane butane) you will have to change the jets and adjust the air mix.Be careful,it would be best to go the local gas centre and get advice of what jets etc.
  2. Sure you can, you need to find a new burner with the proper orifice size for LP gas and switch it out with the existing burner.

OH, and yes you can convert the gas fireplace insert to propane.   4. I just bought a gas fire place and in the box there is a plastic bag with the orifices to change it to propane. You just need to find out what brand the burner is and get the right ones to jet the correct amount of propane to burn properly.
