diy instructions to convert an attic in the uk?
Hi I would like example steps to take converting an attic to a usable room, ie spacer between roof underfelt and insulation to allow for airflow, vapour barrier to stop moisture getting in, etc etc

- Hi, From Canada here's what I would do: GO SEE AN ENGINEER TO SEE IF IT"S SAFE!! THEN worry about VB, Insulation and gypsum board.
- Step 1 - Find yellow pages Step 2 - Call architect and get planning permission. Step 3 - GET A BUILDER IN!!!! Converting an attic will probably involve structural works as you will probably have to have more joists inserted for your floor, a bad loft conversion can detract from the value of your house and can affect the structural integrity of yout whole house. Don't risk this if you don't even know where to begin. Just save the pennies and get someone in to do the graft for you, that's what they are there for.
