i need my bedroom light on to see until i goto sleep and my parents dont want the hamster in anyother room. What should I do if the light is bad for him then?

  1. No, hamsters are nocturnal and actually would be bothered by the light
  2. Yeah because they might want to eat and drink some water and it's hard for them to do that in the dark.
  3. I don't think it matters to the hamster, provided it's not like a bright spotlight or something, just regular light. They dig around in the dark. I have a little "robo" hamster and he's busy in the dark.
  4. this is such a cute question. <3
  5. Hamsters are nocturnal, so the light might confuse him. Maybe at night you could cover his cage. Something porous, of course, so he can breathe. Cloth or cardboard.
  6. I used to work in a pet store so I know quite a bit about animals. Our pet rep had told me that even though hamsters are nocturnal, you can train them to be on your schedule. During the day place a black blanket over their cage. When it gets dark outside take them blanket off and turn on lights and play with them ALOT. Do this and over a matter of time they will be up during the day and asleep at night. But to your question, you do not need a light on at all. To the person who said hamsters cant eat and drink water because they cant see it, what are you talking about, you obviously have NO idea what you re talking about and if I could give kudos, Id give you thumbs down.
  7. You're wondering if having the light on is BAD for your hamster. Nope. He'll be fine. Hamsters are very adaptable. Thank you for thinking of your hamster. Here is a website for making your own hamster toys: http://www.geocities.com/taffy3001/homemade_toys.html You will need a grown-up's help for some of them. Have fun!
  8. I would try sleeping with just a closet light. Also, you can put a small towel over half of the cage .. that will help also. I do this when my females are about to deliver.
