why are there lady bugs all over the place?

okay, since we moved here in aug.. i've seen like like 10-15 lady bugs of all colors just hanging out various places.. a few on the kitchen cabinets.. it was actually the exact same color as the cabinet.. light brown.. like wood. i've seen redones on the cieling, and oranges ones just walking around.. where are they coming from? they dont really bother me much.. it's just weird having lady bugs around usually people have mice, ants, spiders or maybe even cockroaches..(ewwww although i'd rather have the lady bugs than those) i was just curious why they're living in my apartment i didnt see 15 at a time.. i mean since aug, i've seen at least 15 here and there it's pretty cold here in chicago.. okay i guess they can camp out for now =)

  1. Somehow they have found a way in and are just looking foa a place to hang out for the winter. If you see that many, then in the walls or ceiling there could be thousands. They need the warmth to overwinter. In the spring they'll leave.
  2. ok if u seen ladybugs the color of wood... u might have like some kind of mutant ladybug or the person before u said before, they need a place to hange until springtime again so they wont freeze to death if it gets serious, then call bug control also there maybe a lot of aphids in your houseplants so your home is like a grub fest for them (no pun intended)
  3. Lady bugs are cool and yes they are just looking for somewuere to spend the winter. The neat thing about them is they really won't bother anybody.
  4. it's been all over the news lately about insects that look just like ladybugs, but they are not. They were explained to be asian stink beetles that were brought over in the 90's and have been multiplying ever since. this time of year is when they are dominant, whereas ladybugs hibernate when it gets chilly. if you're unsure, try squishing one & see if you notice a strange odor. I'm not joking.
