Solar lights...(little Malibu in-expensive ones)...have problems with batteries.?

Solar lights......have problems with batteries. New ones, yet don't charge...Instructions on batteries states charging by solar or charger OK...When I bought four last yr w/batteries and installed, I let Sun charge...Never any problem since... These seem not to keep charge after I put in units. With new solar batteries (same type) you'd think either way of charging would'nt be a problem... Complexed...Any ideas ???

  1. you may be getting water under the unit and the batteries will not charge.these batteries need at least 24 to 48 hours of direct sun to get a full charge charge.you could buy a charger
  2. Sounds like a problem with the solar charging units. Possibly you bought lemons with re-calls? I have 12 cheap ones I bought at Wal-Mart and they have been working for years with no problems.
  3. 1) Check the polarity of the batteries(+ and - signs) and be sure they are inserted in the proper direction. 2) Check the battery hold contacts. If needed, clean them off using baking soda/water paste. Be sure they are dry before returning batteries to holder. 3) Make sure no "film" has developed over the panel. Clean with a soft rag if needed.
  4. Try making sure the "liner" underneath the cap isn't interfering with battery contacts.
