- I had a Landscaping Business years ago. I took a Master Gardner Course and Read Books about Plants and looked at different pictures of landscapes. You will start getting Ideas, it fun! Many people have an Idea of what they want, and, then you add suggestions, especially about plants and ease of maintenance. In your friend's case she need a Computer Program and learn how it work, also, knowledge of plants is Important to be good. Many Landscape Designers really not know much about plants. They do real nice designs, but, many of the Plants they use are not good for the area. They get more Dramatic than Practical.
