Have you heard that keyline landscape design can reverse global warming, improve soil fertility fast, reduce and heal erosion, let run-off water slowly percolate into watertables instead of flooding off to the ocean, and catch water for free gravity fed irrigation(among other things like a logical land layout, fire protection, emphasis on balanced ecology eg. plants, trees, pasture..,.)? Also, it is something anyone could apply/do if they desire, and without needing government interaction or programs..

- It's very cool: Keyline design is a technique for maximizing beneficial use of water resources of a piece of land, and the Keyline refers to a specific topographic feature linked to water flow. Beyond that however, Keyline can be seen as a collection of design principles, techniques and systems for development of rural and urban landscapes. Keyline design was developed in Australia by farmer and engineer P. A. Yeomans, and described and explained in his books The Keyline Plan, Water For Every Farm and The Challenge of Landscape. The basic idea behind Keyline is to examine the topography of the site identifying several features namely ridges and valleys and the natural water courses. In a valley, a point called the Keypoint can be found where the lower and flatter portion of a primary valley suddenly steepens. A .contour line passing through this point is the Keyline. Contour plowing, paralleling both up from the Keyline and down, will tend to drift rainwater away from the valley centre and prevent erosion. The Yeomans technique differs from traditional contour plowing in several important respects and the limitations of the traditional systems was an important motivational factor in the development of the system. David Holmgren one of the founders of Permaculture, used Yeoman's Keyline principle extensively in the formulation of Permaculture concepts and the design of sustainable human settlements and organic farms. Keyline also includes concepts for rapid soil fertility enhancement and these concepts are explored in Priority One by P. A. Yeomans' son Allan.
- give us more information on keyline landscape design you dont allow any comunication or leave a im contact or email i am a Permaculture designer and we are into water harvesting to zero runoff,Aquacultures , bio diversity ,alternative energy and creating or enhancing energy flows ,sustainability, and auto suficiency, optimum utilization of resources and space organic pest control, mulching etc Permaculture is a world recognised earth friendly movement but tends to include people that practice the concept and is active in all fields Permaculture means permanent agriculture a concept put forward by Bill Mollisson in the 60`s which is a complete hand book for environmental design. the Permaculture designers manual by Bill Mollison, which cost about 40 dollars. and is the best all round book you can get.(tagiari publishing, tagariadmin@southcom.com.au) some other writers that are on the internet are david Holmgren Larry Santoyo Kirk Hanson Masanobu Fukuaka has written , One-Straw Revolution The Road Back to Nature The Natural Way of Farming http://www.context.org/iclib/ic14/fukuok... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/masanobu_fu...
