Bathroom lighting - we are building - what?

would be the best set-up at the vanity and/or overhead so you can see clearly in the mirror to shave, put on makeup..... Isn't there some sort of configuration? I also can not remember the name for those new bulbs that cast "true" light...u don't look yellow or pink...etc.

  1. I have a bar of 4 lights above my mirror and it does the job very nicely. The bulbs are clear not frosted. I think that makes the difference.
  2. Me too.
  3. The best configuration for bathroom lighting is a wall/vanity light either side of your mirror plus a central light. Lighting either side of the mirror gives an even spread of light over the face, rather than shadows under the eyes and nose that can occur when you light from above. A central light is a good idea because showering/washing hands and cleaning etc doesn't require the mirror to be lit and will generally use less electricity. A nice product im selling alot atm is an exhaust fan with a circular fluoro set around it. Its neat and tiday, easy to clean. The 'true' globe your after may be a fluoro globe with a colour temperature of 5000K (K = kelvin) this is called daylight, daylight deluxe or more generally tri phos. While its a bright crisp light, it can sometimes be a little stark on the eyes, you may want to consider a cool white deluxe globe which gives a very white crisp light without the the hint of blue you tend to get in a daylight tube.
