Need brighter lighting for Bathroom. Got any ideas?

The bathroom has 3 lightbulbs right above the sink, but the shower and toliet area are dark areas. Also when choosing lighting, should the lighting sconces or whatever turn up with the light going towards the ceiling, or should the globes face downward?

  1. try a tubular sky light. http://www.tubularskylight.com/
  2. You want the lights to shine down in front of the mirror, then it doubles the light. You might need to change your fixture, or maybe if you can increase the size of your light bulbs. The tube skylite is a good idea. But they aren't inexpensive. Maybe you need to have an additional ceiling fixture installed if some of the simple measures do not work. Good Luck with the solution.
  3. check out www.solutions.com or www.improvementscatalog.com for some great ideas, i have shopped both, and been pleased. also, qvc had a light fixture that fit under the kitchen cabinet, that might work for you in your bathroom areas. as far as the light facing upwards or downwards, that would depend on the look you want. facing upwards will give you a softer diffused lighting, downwards will be more bold and stark.. good luck
  4. CHECK THE FIXTURES OUT
  5. Go to Wal Mart and check out the full-spectrum light bulbs. Go for the highest number on the Kelvin scale. The higher the number, the more bright light you get, but the sooner the light bulb will die. The packages will tell you how much light is put out and how many hours you can expect to get out of each kind of bulb.
