When driving and you approach a yellow light...do you scope the landscape for a law enforcement officer?

and if its clear do you go through

  1. I saw a guy die trying to beat a light. Think about it.
  2. duh...mash the gas and if you do get caught its "the light was yellow when I went through it"
  3. Nope. When I approach a red light, I look for all the cute guys. And if there aren't any, THEN I go through.
  4. A yellow light?! I must be doing something wrong as I seem to do that when approaching a red light.
  5. When I took my drivers test some 16 years ago, I was docked points on the test for trying to stop at the yellow light. It wasn't a harsh stop but it wasn't smooth either. The highway patrol officer that was testing me told me that if you can not stop "safely" without slamming the breaks, then don't stop, go on through the light. I have done just that since then. I do always make a quick assessment of the intersection before making that decision (if possible)
  6. No, slow and stop; unless I have three seconds, then I am through! That's the real three second rule!
  7. no cop no stop!
  8. basically, sometimes i slow down anyway when things are questionable but that normally what i do.
  9. Well,I usually am looking for oncoming cars...but my first ticket..happened at an intersection called the spider web as I approached a yellow light and went far beyond it,only to {have to stop} because of traffic..I was going to continue thru ..anyway,.. and I had just seen a police car sneak to the back of a shopping strip next to this light..well..I got in the middle of a mess of cars all snarled up because i stopped, and thought i was going to die..so..i went thru the now red light(boo hoo)..yes i got that darned ticket..but i live to tell about it.
