do you need and electric outlet to install low voltage landscape lights?

what exactly do you do with the transformer?

  1. yes you will need a 120volt outlet near where the transformer plugs into as the trans reduce's the line voltage down to the low voltage around 12 volts for landscape lighting
  2. Yes, if their not Solar Powered. It is usually mounted on the wall where it is away from too much moisture. It's up to you if you feel comfortable with it being outside. We mounted ours through the wall into the garage area. Next to the outlet it was plugged into. That way we could adjust the time accordingly, IE time changes & seasons. Without having to be in the Weather.
  3. Gotta be able to plug in transformer, it will convert it to regular house voltage, so to answer it yes you do, ever thought of solar lighting??
