  1. I think, they decorate buildings basically from Inside!!
  2. an interior designer does the inside of a home after it is built or when you want a change to be made. they pick with your help the style and color schemes including art work and nick nacks. you need to take a lot of art classes and design classes. and also a lot of computer graphics for a lot of the designs are done on the computer today.
  3. Interior design is more than interior decorating. I have a friend doing her a Bachelor's degree in Environment Design with a focus on Interior Design. Here is what the program description says: "Interior Designers have an established reputation for successful collaboration in the building industry - they work independently or in conjunction with a design team to determine the Interior Architecture; assessing and interpreting client and user requirements for projects as diverse as hospitals, offices, restaurants, retail design and resorts. Interior Designers manipulate interior environments considering structure, light and materials; produce drawings to communicate with consultants and contractors; and design and manage the finishing and furnishing." For more information about the program my friend is enrolled in, see the link below. Oh, and I want to point out that she had to build an AMAZING portfolio before she was accepted into the program. She applied right out of high school and they said, "No way." She then attended a private design college for two years ($$$$$) and re-applied two times, each time adding to and improving her portfolio, before she was admitted.
