Interior Design?

I'm interested in going to school for interior design within the next couple years and I was wondering if anyone knows of a website I can research the income, demand and working conditions for this specific career by region? Specifically, Michigan? I was also interested in finding out if The Art Institute Online is really considered one of the great schools for careers in the arts? You know.. does the name look very good on an application? Thank You, Nichole

  1. microgeeks.tripod.com you can work for tripod.com to see how good u are at making sites the first site was if you want to buy games.
  2. Check out the web site of the American Society for Interior Design at: http://www.asid.org/ and this one: http://www.careersininteriordesign.com/ In some states, the practice of interior design is a regulated profession just like architecture or engineering and you need to be licensed. This can require a four-year degree from an accredited school, an internship under another designer, and the passage of a professional licensing test. I believe that, right now, Michigan is one of the states that still doesn't require professional licensing but this may change in the future. I would suggest that you pick a school that would allow you to get licensed in the future. This would give you maximum flexibility in case Michigan changes its laws, or if you want to move elsewhere. See http://www.accredit-id.org for a list of accredited programs. I don't believe that the Art Institutes Online program is accredited, although some of their on-campus programs may be. I believe that MSU also has an accredited program.
  3. The Art Institute Online is ACICS accredited. In addition, your degree is from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh which is one of the few schools that is FIDER accredited which is very important when you are seeking an Interior Design job.
