  2. Life isn't free. I went through this and it was a waste of time. You can go to the Home Depot and for about $20 get a book stuffed with floor plans. After countless hours of searching for a good floor plan, my wife and I drew what we would like on a napkin at work one day. Then we bought an inexpensive drafting program to put our drawing into something better. We took those drawings to an architect and he drafted up the house. We interviewed builders, hired one and had the house built. There is not another like it in the world.
