Home Alarm. I just bougt a house that has an alarm how do I reset the password?

This is a ranger American alarm system. DSC security Products model PC1500/Pc 1550. They want to charge 100 dollars to reset the password. I have turned the power off to the battery and outlet. what else can I do?

  4. Aside from defaulting the whole panel and programming from scratch (easy but not recommended for a home owner) You need the master code. The following steps will access code programming mode [ * ] [ 5 ] Then press in the master code at that point leds will start to flash and the zone LED's represent code postitions 1 - 6 (you can program in 6 different user codes on this system) Press the position of the code you want to change (1 to 6 - 1 being the master code) The LED corresponding the the user position will flash. Enter in the new 4 digit code. Press # to exit. If you don't know the master coe, contact the previous owner, otherwise fork out the 100 bucks. An alarm company might do this call for free if you hook the system up for monitoring. I know I would.
