- The information that I know may not pertain to your specific question. But I do know that if your home was not pre-wired for an alarm system and you want to install an alarm system at this point, in order for it to be installed you must have an attic, basement, or crawling space so that wires can be ran from room to room. There are two types wired alarm and battery alarm. Battery alarms require more maintenance and of course there is no wiring. However, you have to switch out the batteries often and the batteries can be disengaged. Alot of insurance companies for home owner's insurance or even renters insurance (approval by home owner required) give you a moderate savings or discount for having an alarm system. Some will offer the alarm system for free when monitored. There are several different types of monitoring although you don't have to have your home monitored. It's a personal decision. An alarm is loud enough to alert your neighbors and chances are they might call the cops for you or attention will arise to your home. But a monitoring service will notify the police immediately. Also, especially if you are a female or someone that cannot afford an alarm system one of the best and loudest preventatives or life saving services is to put your keys next to your bed and in case you do hear someone outside or an intruder you can press the panic button. Not to say this is the safest measure but it's added security when you can't afford your own security.
- you really don't state what you're wanting to know, so it's kind of hard to help you.
