why are the smoke alarms in my home beeping randomly every 3 or so minutes?

  14. it's actually an FM frequency interference. it probably means that your homes been bugged. go to radioshack and get a hand held FM frequency scanner. the trick is the catch the bug broadcasting. a metronome usually helps in finding the time of transmission.

  16. Ummmm, i,m gonna have to agree with all the above. when the batteries run low they start beeping at ya. just a helpful reminder that they need to be changed.
  17. Because you need the batteries changed. For 10 bucks and a wee bit of wiring, you can wire up these special smoke detectors that will never go bad, (need batteries)! You can get them at an Electrical Supply store. I wish you well.. Jesse
