Who manufactures floating ceramic tile flooring?

I saw this done on a home improvement show - floating tiles mounted on wood backing were installed over an existing tile floor.

  1. Floating floors are not really ceramic. They come in many finishes, some of which look like ceramic or stone tile. There are quite a few brands. Stop into a local flooring store and take a look. Wilson Art is a brand I've used. Stay away from the cheap stuff (HD or Lowe's). The thicker stuff has a better, harder finish, fits and installs better, and will hold up longer.
  2. You are probably thinking of something like the Edge Tile System that they sell at Lowes. I have heard lots of bad things about this type of tile -- mainly that it cracks if you put anything heavy on it like a couch or a refrigerator. A lot of the Lowes stores are getting rid of it because it has become a liability. If you want to learn more go to http://www.floorstransformed.com/ and do a search on "edge tile"
