Can I paint a cork floor? What sort of paint should I use?

  1. I WOULD PUT A WATER SEAL ON IT FIST THEN USE PRIMER THEN PAINT! PROLLY OIL BASE SO IT WONT BE THICK!
  2. you can paint cork, but it will leave a slippery surface unless you add sand/scratch coat to the paint. depends on if the floor is indoor/outdoor, which paint you should use. also, you'll want to seal it (thompson's waterseal, or something) or the cork will flake. whatever you use, amke sure you get a thick, very furry nap roller to get in the crevices (1" or thicker)
  3. Yes you can, but I'd apply a layer of runny PVA first to seal it.
  4. most people can paint a floor or wall-not highly skilled-use wood stain varnish
  5. I'd use a high quality 2-part epoxy paint. The newer floor paints have excellent adhesion, are durable and hard and are resistant to water and chemicals. They are very flexible and colour-fast and are resistant to UV radiation. The paints are able to take quite a pounding too, resisting shocks of up to 500 pounds / square inch. They are resistant to chemical invasion and can be applied in a single coat. What's more, they come in a large variety of different pleasing-to-the-eye colours.
  6. you cant paint cork make sure it dont get wet
  7. You haven't said if the floor is already down what has it been sealed with previously? It is difficult paint if the floor has been sealed with coats of varnish
