Is Cork flooring suitable for a kitchen floor? Can it be cleaned with soap and water?

Does it gouge easily, and how would you repair it if damaged?

  1. I wouldn't do cork in the kitchen. It's porous and everything you spill on it is going to be a problem. As nice as it looks I think you'll be sorry a few months and a few spills later.
  2. the actual cork, no; if its in part of a lino floor tile, yes. Try hardwood or ceramic tile.
  3. I have cork flooring my my kitchen and I love it! If it is properly sealed you will have no problems with stains, just sweep and mop with warm water. It does not rot or mildew, and is VERY quiet since it absorbs sound. Check out this site, I got some good information from it. http://www.free-flooring.com/
