Cork flooring. It is worth the money?

I am thinking of putting cork flooring in a house that I am attempting to flip. I just wondered if anyone out there has any knowledge they would like to share.

  1. Well my 2 cents worth (2 points worth) would be that if I were buying a house, cork flooring would be a HUGE selling point! Good luck with your flip.
  2. Well, it really depends on alot of things. 1) Is cork a commonly used material in the area you live? If so, then maybe! If not, it may turn off some potential buyers. You want to use materials that potential buyers will recognize, and see as something vaulable. 2)Does it fit the style and era of house you are flipping? Are you doing either a contemporary, or mid century modern house that cork will work well in? Or maybe a rustic theme or a wine room the cork would work well in? Some buyers may remember cork from it popularity in the past, and be turned off by it. It really depends on the type of home you are considering using it in. 3) Could you use another material (tile, wood, etc.) that would cost less, and give you the same or higher value and appeal more to buyers? If so go with that. Cork floors have alot of good points (sound absorption, impact absorbtion, etc). Just remember that when you are flipping, it's not about what you would want in your house, it's about what will appeal to potential buyers, and bring you the most profit.
  3. Yes if it suits the room and flow of the house. Could be a selling point in your area to help buyers remember your house. Good luck with the flip.
