Cheapest source for Hardwood Flooring or Laminate.?
We still haven't decided which we want, pros and cons for both, but either way we're looking for the cheapest price on flooring. Where did you buy your hardwood flooring? Or Laminate? Did they install or did you do it yourself? Thanks in advance. Thanks for everyone's input, lots of good advice.

- Being in the intrior design business for over 30 years, Lumber Liquidators is THE cheapest place to buy either. Personally, in my own home I have hardwood. I really didn't want a photograph of wood on my own flooring. That being said, we have supervised the installation of both in many of our clients homes. A lot depends on your lifestyle and how tough your way of living is going to be on the floor. Scratches and dings on hardwood are really no big deal since they add character and can be easily obscured. Depending on your market, hardwood can add more value, can be refinished, restained, resealed and is a lifetime investment. Lumber Liquidators also has referrals to installers. I would still get at least 3 estimates, make certain the installer has experience and references to clients in homes where he has installed the product you choose. If you want, I can also give you the PDF of the manual we choose to adhere to in installation procedures, it can be done as a do-it-yourself project.
- Went to manufacturers warehouse and bought all the seconds of one type and basically colour. Had to take entire skid of each lot but this gave us extra to cover the damaged and bad boards. Hired installer for his hourly rate only. Pro install and no markup on the product, first rate goods for half price or less ($1.59 per instead of $3.79).
- I'm a GC and Lumber Liquidators are cheap, but always try Home Depot and Lowes for specials. If you can afford it have a pro do it. Justify it by working overtime at what you do best! Or if you know somebody that can do a nice job see if you can barter services or time. If you do it yourself, do it for fun not to save money. Nothing worse than spending a ton of money, doing a subpar job and making your spouse dissatisfies. good luck
- I would recommend checking out http://www.greenandsave.com they offer a ton of information about home remodeling / improvement projects that not only save you money but help the environment.
- Sounds like you want help and guidance AND the cheapest price. Please ASk yourself FIRST do you want the "cheapest" or the best value? If you need to weigh the pros and Cons visit http://www.flooringprofessor.com for in depth information before you buy! You will also find resources to specials from Lumber liquidators, fast floors, and Ifloors as well as more local resources. You can also get help to be sure you know the difference between buying the "cheapest" floor and getting the "best value" does anyone really believe that the 99 cent laminate is of the same quality as the one sold in your local reputable flooring store for $4.00? MY point is just be sure of what you want..then we will guide you through tthe process and help you find the best source to buy from. it is why we exist and what we do best! Good Luck!!
