laminat flooring:does it mater if u get insulation attachd to each individual piece or just layd down hole?

When you lay down laminat flooring is it better to get the kind that has the insulation attached to every individual piece or is it better to lay the insulation over the whole floor and then lay the flooring on top of it? I want to more about the insulating factor more than anything else, wont the air seep between the cracks?

  1. it really doesn't matter. except for costing you a whole lot more, it doesn't do anything.
  2. It shouldn't matter, the floor itself floats. I'd imagine it would cost more for the flooring with the insulation on it, than without. You can most likely haggle the price of the insulation in the price. Make sure you get at least a good 1/8 of an inch gap around the entire floor between the wall and the floor itself, to aid in the floating and to compensate for the expanding and contracting of the wood.
