laundry room flooring?

My laundry room in is the basement. I have a ultility sick that drains out to a drain in the floor. I am wanting to get a new floor put down in the room. It has a old ugly floor down now. Any ideas or suggestions on what type of flooring would be best? Im looking for something I could possibly do myself or do it fairly inexpensive.

  1. Try cushioned tiles or linoleum. Both clean well and are do it yourself-er projects. You will need to apply an adhesive to the floor after it has been thoroughly cleaned. You will need a lot of ventilation as the adhesive is very intoxicating. Best of luck.
  2. THEY HAVE RUBBER TILES THAT GO TOGETHER LIKE A PUZZLE. A FRIEND OF MINE USED THEM IN HIS BASEMENT LAUNDRY ROOM AND IT LOOKED GREAT.
  3. Well you will have to re-plumb the sink so it drains directly in to the floor drain. But then I would go with linoleum. Linoleum is one piece, no seams or cracks to collect moisture. Easy to mop and to take care of. Might even be able to get a "remnant" piece big enough to fit your needs. Good Luck.
  4. Why not have the drain from the sink go to same hole your washer drains to? If not possible then make you a raised floor in that area so the pipe and drain dont show.Just frame it in like any floor with 2x4s sitting on edge.Run floor braces and put on flooring. That way in case of leak, floor wont get wet.
