Removing hardwood floor in my kitchen.?

I believe that my kitchen cabinets are sitting on top of the hardwood floor. If so, what would you suggest to get up the hardwood without bothering the cabinets. I am wondering what types of tools might be applicable for cutting around the cabinets. Help, please??

1. Your hard wood flooring is most likely just an inch or so under your kitchen cabinets. So when you begin to remove the flooring, your cabinets will be just fine, The best way for you yourself to know, is to pick an area and remove the hardwood flooring to see how much is actually under the cabinets. I'm sure it will only an inch or less and will pull away very easy allowing you to insert your new floor with ease. If you encounter a section of the floor hard to remove (under the counters to much) A simple hammer and a large screwdriver should remove the stubborn flooring by useing the screwdriver as a chisle and the hammer to release the flooring.
2. Why do you want to take up the hardwood floor? If you want to put tiles or sheet goods down, go over the existing wood floor with underlayment fastened properly. This will give you a good sturdy base for whatever floor you install. It's easier to cut the underlayment to the cabinets than trying to cut out the existing floor. Even if you cut out the wood floor, you would still have to add a new layer of underlayment before adding new flooring. If you insist on removeing the existing wood floor, the cabinets should be removed before proceeding.
