How can I ship/move a workshop of heavy tools from BC, Canada, to Nova Scotia?

We need to move a boat-building workshop full of tools, wood planks, file cabinets from the town of Sidney on the southern end of Vancouver Island, BC., Canada, to Shelburne, Nova Scotia, Canada. It would all fit inside a 20-foot shipping container or a 20-foot truck.... But what is cheapest and easiest method: freight company? hiring a U-Haul? buying a container and shipping that? HOW DO YOU FIND a freight company? AND: For anyone who has shipped heavy tools -- did you build your own wooden boxes, or buy containters pre-made?

  1. contact trucking companies that do LTL (less than truckload). When they have room on a truck going where you need, they will contact you. Look to pay minimum of $1 per mile (could be higher due to fuel costs). Or if you know someone in the trucking industry, ask them for someone you can contact.
  2. try reimer express or CN
