Is It Difficult to Install Ready-To-Install Cabinets?

Is it really as simple as screwing in a few well-placed screws? I love watching Flip This House, and they make it seems so easy. Although I must admit they ALWAYS seems to have the right tool for the job. It really can’t be as easy as it seems right?

  1. NO its not, you have to remmber that all of theses thing have been "A" pre measured and "B" prefit before the camers get to them, OH and a lot of editing....lol but actually if you order them in the right size they do go in pretty easy, a drill, level, screws and a few strong arms always help..
  2. Best to do some reading on the subject as anything can go wrong. Its not hard, but it maybe for someone who doesn't do this type of work. They have to be plumb (straight) and squared and leveled. Get some help!
  3. Sure just like fishing shows. It's easy to catch big fish every time u toss a hook out. Or the food networks magic ovens. Just kidding u,actually they do go up easily AFTER the proper planing & preperation. But don't try it alone.
  4. To make it easy, measure down the cabinet height from where you want the tops to be, and attach a cleat- a piece of scrap 1 x 2 pine will do. Screw it into the wall LEVEL at the stud locations- it helps to have a stud sensor, or to be able to locate studs by knocking. Since you're putting up cabinets, you can also use a finish nail, and drive it in repeatedly with a hammer along a straight horizontal line until you hit a stud. Then, make a reference line vertically, to indicate the line where the screws have to go. Once you get a solid hit, measure every 16", and you should find the other studs. When the cleat (1 x 2) is attached to the wall where you want it, have a friend help you place the cabinets on it, and drive screws through the back of the cabinet in line with your stud locations. When you get it right, there will be no question about it. The cabinet will hang solidly, and you can remove the temporary cleat, or reuse it at another location. A cordless drill is so nice to have for this operation. Call me if you have any questions. John at Ready Remodeling 425-870-8576.
