Why do kids like pots and pans so much?
Not to mention strainers, food storage containers, and just about anything in that cabinet? I have two cabinets that are at my son's level, and he won't stay out of that cabinet. He could go for the tool cabinet (locked) or the cleaning supplies (also locked DOUBLE locked), but he heads straight for the pots and pans. Why do 15 month olds like them so much? Does this mean he'll be a chef when he's older (yeah, I know, jk, but hey, I can get my hopes up can't I?)

- because they are amusing they make alot of noise and different sounds. They are just used to drive parents nuts don't you think
- They're loud and most things you have stack inside eachother. Great skill for babies to learn. And cheaper if you use the things you have vice buying him the same concept in a plastic toy.
- i dunno, but my daughter loves it too, which in turn I love cuz she is so darn cute playing with them!
- He mostly loves the noise they can make. More likely he grows up wanting to play the drums or percussion.
- They like the noise for one and second YOU use them so there must be somethign amazing about them because you are MOM and moms are their babies world!
- Its not that he will be a chef its that little kids like to explore and the noise of them smashing together its all fun and games for him. kind of when my little girl had amazing toys from there Nana and poppy and all she wanted was a dish rag.
- He's 15 months and wants to discover everything. At this age, they've learned to open things like cabinets, boxes and light doors and able to see whats inside. It's exciting and they're curious. They don't really care what's inside, just interested in what it does. As for the pots and pans, toddlers enjoy the sound they make. There isn't any toy out there that makes the same kinds of sounds and are as large as pots and pans. They're closed away in a cabinet, are rather large and you use them= a very curious object. He's at the age where everything is a discovery. Just keep unsafe objects locked away and out of reach, let him look around a little and make sure he knows where HIS stuff is. Best wishes and good luck! =]
- Since a mother spends lots of time in the kitchen - children like to be there too. When mine were really small; I kept pots/pans and Tupperware in a lower cabinet. They knew this was the only cabinet they could get into and they never bothered any others (even the one under the sink). Kids want to be close to their mother (while she's in the kitchen) but they also need their own space. They see you handling pots/pans and they are just trying to copy you, however, this will not turn the child into a chef. When the child is older, around 5, set a chair next to you and let the kid help.
- Lol, I love little kids. I have a cousin of almost 2 years, and mashAllah he's so cute and clever! Once he took out all the pots, pans, and jars out of my aunt's cabinet, stacked them one on top of eachother, and then when my aunt said "clean up time," he actually put of everything away. MashAllah, little kids are so cute and intelligent!
- they are amusing with all of the sounds and they can stack them inside one another which is good for coordination. My son used to wear the strainer on his head for a hat.... it's good for the imagination. Hey, I never complained, they're a lot cheaper than toys! LOL
- They are luvin it becos you are using it...! They love whatever their mommy love.
