17 year old jack daniels whiskey?

my dad has a 17 year old bottle of unopened jack daniels in our liquor cabinet and i was wondering if it was drinkable. the plastic seal around the cap is still intact. my dad only likes single malt which is why hes never opened it before. thanks in advance oh my dad said i can have it. im only checking its drinkability.

  1. Yes, it's probably still good! But unfortunately it's not any more valuable than regular Jack! Liquor doesn't age once it's bottled like wine. 18 year old Scotch is aged in barrels, not in bottles. .
  2. yup... don't get into trouble... yr pops'll get in serious s hit even if you steal it... thanks to the fun police which are out in serious force these days... which is why its so lame right now.
  3. A 17 year old bottle of Jack is drinkable as long as it's been kept in a dark, cool place. Actually, you might want to send the bottle to me. I'm brave enough to try it for you.
  4. yes it will be fine to consume if you like bourbon whiskey.
  5. better safe than sorry ! best ask him before you put him in a depressed state. just had some 30 yr. old last month.reminded me of LONG ago !!!
  6. If the level in the bottle is still where it should be, the liquor should still be good. If it is much lower, there has been evaporation of the alcohol and what is left could be rancid. That happened to me with a bottle of Johnny Walker. I also had a bottle of Glenfiddich go south even though it was still full. For some strange reason, it was not dumped and about two years later, there was a transformation into what is called (and rarely found) Scotch Brandy. My daughter said that was now valuable so I gave it to her (she is of age).
  7. good alchohol only gets better with age; the dustier the bottle the better the drink is
