i need to know how old my tequila is?

my grandfather gave me a bottle of tequila sauza and it is unopened.it has a texas state liquor tax paid 21cents.the bottle has been sitting in a liquor cabinet for who knows how long, he cant remember even buying it. i wanted to know how i can find out age, if anyone interested in old liquor bottles(even though its full) any info would be great...thanks

  1. the brewery would have a clue? if it still exsists... 21 cents is nothing.. so yer must be hhm 40+ years old i guess. there should be a batch number on the bottle somewhere that will indicate how old it is, if you can reference that from somewhere else should be able to date it within a year or 2.

By law, tequila must meet the following criteria: it must be labeled with 'hecho en Mexico' (made in Mexico), 'NOM' (Norma Official Mexicana), the producer's four digit registration and identification number and the tequila's age (resposado, anejo, blanco, oro).
