Lacquer THEN stain?
I'm redoing my kitchen cabinets and have all the faces off in the garage. I stripped them, sanded them, and have put 2 coats of stain on so far. My buddy told me that I should put a coat of lacquer on, and then stain them again and then put another coat of lacquer on. Anyone heard of this? He said I would be amazed at the results...I just don't want to be amazed that the stain doesn't adhere to the lacquer after I give it a light sand...

- no no you are doing it right
- stain is a penetrant lacquer is basically a sealer, you are doing the right thing, However you may want to try your friends method but do it on a scrap piece of wood, same type as your cabinets, then if you like the results go for it
- you can put stain over it it may darken it abit, but its gona take abit to dry,i agree with the other guy try it on a scrap piece, using the same kinda wood your cabinets are
